JULY 24
- FEAST DAT OF
- ST. CHRISTINA
|
Christina was a young woman of great beauty and intellect born of wealthy parents. He father, in his zeal to protect his daughter against suitors and Christian preachers, built a huge tower and forced her to live in it. After six months in the tower, Christina became fully aware of God's presence and learned all about Jesus and his teachings and became a Christian.
After the death of her father, she sold all her worldly possessions and gave her wealth to the poor and the sick. This angered the authorities and she was put to the worst type of torture to force her to give up her God. Refusing to do this, Christina was whipped and thrown to the lions, skinned alive and then thrown into a fiery furnace, yet she was miraculously saved by the Grace of God, For her and fortitude she is much admired and revered.
