NOVEMBER 13
- FEAST OF
- ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM
|
The beautiful name given to St. John "Chrysostom" means "golden mouth".
St. John Chrysostom is most known for his revision of the Divine Liturgy, which is celebrated almost every Sunday in our Church. His Easter sermon is still read in every Orthodox Church throughout the world on Easter Sunday. His works are read and studied throughout the Roman Catholic and Protestant Churches as well as within the Greek Orthodox Church.
Today the skull of St. John reposes among relics in the Cathedral of Pisa, and some of his bones lie in the great Church, which bears his name in Venice. |
